Post Scriptum
-- This is a collaborative endeavour to use the Net to promote personal peace and nonviolence, to redefine the concept of "security" from military defence to the related issues of environmental security, peace and sustainable development, and to encourage a major shift in investment away from the production and use of weapons towards proactive and preventive solutions - out of which we focus on the investment into Youth - to the problems that lead to the outbreaks of violence and war in the first place. By investing in Youth - the largest sociological group and the leaders/adults of tomorrow - and by supporting them to team up with each other, Peace will be embedded in society. These initiatives have been started since World War II and must increase in quantity and quality.
It's important to understand that the adults -via the United Nations and the European Commission, and other AdultOrganisations- are interested in having your/Youth's viewpoint on all what mattters to Youngsters. The clearer you and/or your YouthOrganisation can develope your viewpoint and tools you need to do even better what you are doing now; aduls want to give you places to experiment, for non-formal learning, to team-up with others. Adults want you to show how you are using the Internet and all its related tools, where you want things to evolve to and... these AdultOrganisations are giving grants for all of you youngsters and organisations working with youth so you can meet and work on all this and the things that matter in your lives as youngsters. You are the largest sociological group on Earth, you matter a lot! It is important that every next generation becomes more empowered and IT can play a very important role in that. Please build upon what previous Youth Generations have created, take it a step further so the Youth coming after you can organise things even faster, more youngsters can get wonderfull experiences, become better WorldCitizens. Some Youngsters are dying, are suffering, see no other outcome out of their misery and start training whilst you are playing to become freedom fighters/terrorists... do it for them too ! Go look for them using IT. Help them, team up with them, show them alternatives, inspire them and be inspired. You are the Leaders of tomorrow; so experiment, find more efficient ways of doing things, develope your skills, so the world, your world will be better.
e.g. The participants in the IT4YI are having both Virtual and Real world meetings and discussions. E.g. in Ankara, we met on this topic with about 25 participants, coders and Youth Leaders of 12 nationalities; the accomodation and food was 100% covered by the Turkish&EU Youth Department and 70% of the airplane tickets were refunded, you can get these conditions too! Just turn to your Youth Departments in your national/regional and local governments.
